Frequently asked questions
01. What is Mind Smile Counselling Institute (MSCI) and what services do you provide?
Mind Smile Counselling Institute (MSCI) is a hybrid platform dedicated to holistic mental well-being and professional skill development. We operate with a dual focus: first, providing evidence-based, scientific counseling services for individuals, children, and families facing mental health challenges. Second, we function as a training institute offering certified courses for aspiring counselors, teachers, parents, and professionals who wish to develop skills in psychology and mental health support. Our goal is to create a community where emotional healing and professional growth go hand in hand.
02. Are your services available online, or do I need to visit in person?
We understand the need for flexibility in today’s busy world. Therefore, MSCI offers both in-person and online services. You are welcome to visit our physical office in Dhaka for a traditional face-to-face counseling experience or training session. However, for clients living outside Dhaka or abroad, or for those with tight schedules, we provide fully secure and interactive online sessions via Zoom or Google Meet. Our online platform is designed to ensure the same level of confidentiality and effectiveness as our in-person sessions.
03. Who are the counselors and trainers at Mind Smile?
Our team consists of highly qualified and empathetic professionals, including certified psychologists, therapeutic counselors, and child development experts. Every member of our team has undergone rigorous training and possesses specialized degrees in their respective fields. For our training programs, we employ industry experts who combine academic knowledge with real-world practical experience. We strictly adhere to international ethical standards to ensure that you receive the highest quality of care and education.
Specialized Concerns FAQ
01. Do you offer specific counseling for children and parents?
Yes, child and parent counseling is one of our core specialties. We understand that childhood development is complex, and parenting comes with its unique set of challenges. Our experts specialize in addressing issues such as behavioral problems, screen addiction, academic anxiety, and emotional regulation in children. Simultaneously, we offer guidance to parents on effective parenting techniques, bridging the communication gap with their children, and fostering a harmonious family environment.
02. I am not a psychologist; can I still enroll in your training courses?
Absolutely. Our training programs are designed to be inclusive and accessible. While we offer advanced courses for psychology students, many of our certifications—such as “Child & Parent Counseling” or “Mental Health First Aid”—are open to teachers, parents, caregivers, and corporate professionals. These courses focus on non-clinical, skill-based learning that empowers you to support the mental well-being of those around you and enhance your own emotional intelligence, regardless of your academic background.
03. How do I know if I need counseling? Is it only for severe mental health issues?
This is a common misconception. Counseling is not just for those suffering from severe mental health disorders; it is a tool for anyone seeking a better quality of life. You might consider counseling if you are feeling overwhelmed by daily stress, struggling with relationship issues, facing career burnout, or simply feeling “stuck” in life. It is a proactive step towards self-improvement, gaining clarity, and building mental resilience. You do not need to be in a crisis to seek support.
Costs and Payment FAQ
01. How much do counseling sessions and training courses cost?
The cost of our services varies depending on the type of service you require. Counseling fees are determined by the seniority of the counselor and the duration of the session. Similarly, course fees depend on the level of certification (Foundation vs. Diploma) and the length of the program. We believe in transparency, so detailed pricing for specific services is available upon request or can be viewed during the booking process on our website. We strive to keep our high-quality services affordable and accessible.
02. What payment methods do you accept?
To make the process convenient for our clients and students, we accept a wide range of payment methods. You can pay using local mobile financial services like bKash, Nagad, and Rocket. We also accept direct bank transfers and payments via major credit/debit cards. For international clients booking online sessions, we have provisions for secure cross-border transactions. Full payment details will be provided at the time of booking or enrollment.
03. Do you offer any packages or discounts for long-term therapy or courses?
Yes, we value commitment to mental health and learning. For counseling, we often offer bundled packages (e.g., a set of 6 or 10 sessions) at a reduced rate compared to single sessions, which encourages consistency in therapy. For our training institute, we occasionally provide early-bird discounts for course registration or scholarship opportunities for meritorious students. Please check our “Offers” section or contact our office to learn about any ongoing promotions.
Appointments FAQ
01. How do I book an appointment with a counselor?
Booking an appointment at Mind Smile is simple and quick. You can use the “Book Appointment” button on our website to select your preferred counselor and a time slot that suits you. Alternatively, you can call our hotline number or send us an email. Our support team is available to assist you in matching you with the right counselor based on your specific needs and schedule.
02. What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?
We respect the time of both our clients and our professionals. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, we request that you notify us at least 24 hours in advance. This allows us to offer that time slot to another client who may be in need. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may be subject to a cancellation fee. We understand that emergencies happen, and we handle such cases with empathy and flexibility whenever possible.
03. How long does a typical counseling session last?
A standard individual counseling session typically lasts for 45 to 60 minutes. This duration is clinically considered optimal for discussing issues, processing emotions, and working on therapeutic strategies without causing fatigue. However, couple therapy or family sessions may be longer, usually around 90 minutes, to ensure everyone has a chance to speak. The duration will be confirmed when you book your specific service.
